Activities of the Department for power engineering

In addition to education, the Department for power engineering has additional activities in the areas of:

Transmission, distribution and industrial systems (power flows, short circuits, transient stability, fault currents as elements for dimensioning the parameters of switchyards with the influence of induction motors; motor start studies; relay protection; reliability analysis of different network configurations)

Electromagnetic transients in the power system (switching and atmospheric surges; insulation coordination procedures; protection against atmospheric surges; current surges and transient recovery voltages; very fast transients caused by disassembly in gas insulated systems ...);

Economical use of power factor correction and calculation of capacitor banks in systems with voltage distortion problems;

Electrical machines and devices

Cathodic protection systems (pipeline tanks, pumping stations in water supply, gas supply, oil refineries and chemical industry, warehouses, etc ...)

Electrochemistry and electrostatics
